In addition to stunning beaches, visitors to North Shore City are well catered for with a range of walks, parks and reserves. Some of the city's most popular bush walks can be found around Birkenhead. Kauri Point Centennial Park and Chatswood Reserve feature magnificent kauri aged approximately 350 to 400 years. Good shingled tracks lead from entrances off Onetaunga Road down to Kendall Bay. Along the walk there are many places to stop and take in panoramic views of the harbour. Kendall Bay is a safe swimming spot for children and a pleasant cliff walk connects up with the grounds of Chelsea Sugar Refinery.
Le Roy's Bush is another favourite walk. The main entrance is between 210 and 212 Onewa Road, Birkenhead, and the area features luscious native bush, a stream, waterfall, footbridge, wetlands, swimming beach, playground and barbecue area.
