The Pumphouse Theatre and Gallery

From waterworks to community theatre and gallery. The PumpHouse with its distinctive chimney began its life as a water pumping station for the North Shore in 1905 and is located in the beautiful physical environment of Killarney Park and on the edge of Lake Pupuke, in the heart of Takapuna.

The PumpHouse was saved from demolition in the late 1960s, restored in the 1970s and opened in 1977 to become the vibrant Theatre and Gallery complex that it is today.  The Theatre hosts a wide range of performing art entertainment and cultural events each year including lunchtime concerts, drama festivals and musical theatre, along with dance, comedy, recitals and children's shows.

The Gallery presents a new exhibition every three weeks from art awards, paintings, jewellery and textile art to photography, ceramics and glass.

Phone 09 489 8360 for further information and the schedule of events.
